Difference between GTLD and CCTLD Domains.

First of all you need to understand that GTLD (Generic Top Level Domain) is for globally use they do not identify any specific country. Ex.  .com, .org, .net, etc. CCTLD (Country Code Top Level Domains) describe the particular country or region. Ex.  .in target India, .uk target United Kingdom, .au target Australia, etc.

How to select which is the best option for you.

Domain selection is very important in order to rank your site top in the search. If you want to get the traffic for a particular country you need to select the CCTLD domains as per the country extension but if you want to rank globally or you want traffic globally then you need to select GTLD domains such as .com, .net etc.

Because every search engine will provide you the nearest information and search engine observe that from which TLD you are coming.
Suppose if you want to search “restaurants” with the different TLD and it will show you the top result for that TLD. Please have a look below.

Above URL’s are related to different-different TLD’s and it will show you the nearest information about the restaurant because it’s observing your location as the TLD.
